Sailing Corsica Part II:
Canyon Pulischellu to the
Bay of Macinaggio

Setting sail from the Bay of Macinaggio, embark on the second chapter of your two-week itinerary setting sail around Corsica. From the breathtaking Pulischellu Canyon to sunrise over the Corsican Mountains, with every detail meticulously considered to make the most of this stylish Mediterranean island.

SAILING CORSICA: DAY 8-14

DAY 8: Canyon Pulischellu

After breakfast, our journey continues as we head up the south-east coast, navigating slowly through the rocky channels to the Gulf of Porto Vecchio. Anchoring in the shallows means that you can swim to shore and use the exclusive facilities of Hotel Belvedere, nestled among the pine trees that brush the white sandy beach where the water is crystal clear.

Luncheon is by our Chef in the Canyon Pulischellu; the helicopter will collect you from the beach and whisk you through the gorges and canyons to arrive at our “helipad on the rocks” 30 minutes later. A light lunch of Corsican meats and cheeses with freshly baked bread will be served before you explore some of the finest waterfalls, natural slides and hidden pools in Corsica. Here, our crew will assist you in wading the canyon along a 2 km mountain river. After this extraordinary experience, the helicopter is waiting to bring you back to the yacht for warm showers and homemade soup. Dinner will be served from the beachside grill at the Casa del Mar Hotel as the sun sets in an orange glow behind the mountains. The finale for the day is a firework display, lighting up the Bay of Porto Vecchio as you relax under sweet-smelling pine trees with a liquor made from local fruit.

DAY 9: Porto Vecchio

Following breakfast, you wander up into the old town of Porto Vecchio before returning to the yacht for lunch on the sundeck as we leave the bay. For the afternoon and evening, we have a choice of two bays:
San Ciprianu or Pinarellu. Both are equally beautiful, and the day will be spent with all the water toys at your disposal. Once you have retired for the evening, the crew will weigh anchor and cruise overnight.

DAY 10: Elba

The gentle roll of the yacht and the view of the open ocean will greet you on the 10th day of sailing Corsica. Our next port of call is the famous island of Elba. Here we will anchor in the Bay of Biodola, where the helicopter will be waiting to take you to the summit of Monte Capanne to soak in the breathtaking views. You will then descend by cable car over the steep granite cliffs to Marciana, where the helicopter will take you on a spectacular round island tour. Should you see any beaches you’d like to visit, make a note and we can return to them later. The evening will be spent at anchor in the sheltered bay.

DAY 11: Elba

After a relaxed swim and leisurely breakfast, our sailing Corsica experience takes us to the Port of Portoferraio, where waiting limousines will transport you to Forte Falcone, the Linguella Archaeological Museum and Napoleon’s House. For your evening dining experience, we have organised your own terrace at Le Viste Ristorante, a shoreside restaurant with an inviting menu.

DAY 12: At leisure

We always leave one day completely free from any plans. That day is today. We will present you with details of local exhibitions, musical concerts, archaeological dive sites and all the other attractions on the island. You decide and we will make it happen

DAY 13: Macinaggio

The yacht leaves Portoferraio early, continuing our sailing Corsica adventure west towards the Corsican coast. We anchor at a bay that is used by very few, Pietracorbara, a simple beach with crystal-clear waters and a sandy bottom that extends 250m offshore. It offers the perfect spot for a day of complete relaxation. In the evening, we head north and stop by the Bay of Macinaggio. The tender will run you ashore, almost directly to your table at U Scalu – a name that you will never forget, for the food served here represents all that Corsica can offer on one table: seafood, hams, meats and amazing cheeses.

DAY 14: Farewell

Today, we must say goodbye to Corsica. By the time you awake, we will be underway. Breakfast is served on the aft deck, allowing you to watch the brilliant orange glow of the sunrise over the Corsican Mountains as they fade into the distance. Once again, we are on the lookout for whales and dolphins as we make our way across the sea to the Port of Monaco. It has been an incredible fortnight. We hope you have seen the best of Corsica and leave with a lifetime of memories. Our final gift is a small box containing a selection of Corsica’s finest foods. We hope it will make you want to return next year and enjoy another unique PrivatSea experience.
